Carmarthenshire Aerial Photography
A programme of low level oblique aerial photography survey work was carried out, aimed initially at recording the impact of a major road construction scheme on the Upper Tidal Reaches of the Towy at Carmarthen. Much of the main river up to Llandovery was also photographed together with selected sites elsewhere. Three sorties were flown using Cessna 150 and 172 aircraft, flying at around 1000 feet above ground level (Up to 3000 feet above sea level over Llyn y fan and Llyn Brianne). 1. July 2nd 1998: The Towy upper estuary and road construction works at
Carmarthen A40 Eastern Bypass: including re-alignment of the river channel. 2. September 29th 1998: Repeat (1) with flight extended from middle
estuary and detailed coverage along the Towy up to Llandovery, and the Cothi up to
Pont-ar-gothi. 3. June 9th 1999: Repeat (1) with selected larger scale areas up the Towy
to Llandeilo; Llangadog to Llanwrda; Llynyfan lake ; lower Bran and Llyn
